40,000 Pounds of Pork Was Just Recalled—Here’s What We Know

Sold at Aldi, Walmart and other stores, the recalled pork was imported from Canada and was not inspected properly.
If you purchased pork products from stores such as Aldi or Walmart lately, you may want to double-check that they are not part of a recall that was just recently announced.
Eastern Meat Solutions, Inc., a Canadian importer, recalled approximately 40,763 pounds of raw, boneless pork products, processed as microwavable barbecue dishes. While so far no one has been reported sick, the products were not properly presented for import inspection, said the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
Why Was the Pork Recalled?
More than 20 tons of pork was recalled because the products were not presented for import reinspection into the United States.
Imported food products must be thoroughly inspected to ensure they meet FSIS standards. Without these inspections, they cannot be guaranteed safe to eat. FSIS and Eastern Meat Solutions are investigating why the pork products did not undergo inspection correctly.
FSIS is concerned that some of these pork products could be in consumers’ refrigerators or freezers. So far, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. This is clearly a case of “better safe than sorry.”
What Pork Products Were Recalled?
The pork products affected were shipped nationwide and have the establishment number “EST. 4800.” They include the following:
• 16-oz. plastic packages containing Park Street Deli “SWEET CHIPOTLE Boneless Pork Ribs with Sauce” with Lot # 3115; Lot # 3123; or Lot #3114 on the packages.
• 16-oz. plastic packages containing Park Street Deli “HAWAIIAN STYLE Boneless Pork Ribs with Sauce” with Lot # 3115; Lot # 3123; or Lot #3114 on the packages.
• 16-oz. plastic packages containing “Marketside READY TO HEAT BBQ PORK BURNT ENDS” with Lot #3116; Lot #3117; or Lot #3122 on the packages.
What Should You Do If You Bought These Products?
